A forum to analyze current peace process in Karenni State is lead by
Union of Karenni State Youths (UKSY) in Catholic Community centre ,
Naung Yar,Loikaw.
Khun Bee Du from UKSY said, “ We want to be
shared and discuss about our nationwide peace process to understand more
about it and how can we play a part in it.”
Peace is on the
verge and every person’s participation is in need said Karenni National
Progressive Party (KNPP) during the forum organized by UKSY on August
19, 2013.
“ It’s not yet peace but only ceasefire. It’s a long
way to go. It’s also good idea to have this kind of forum to gather
different aspects. Our state is the smallest and we would find peace if
everyone plays in their roles.” said General Bhone Nain an excutive
committee member of KNPP.
The forum was attended by KNPP, Kayan
New Land Party (KNLP), Karenni National Liberation Front (KNPLF),
seanators, NGOs and youth groups.
According to the forum, lack
of providing Electric Power in the state and Confiscated lands issue are
priourity issues to monitor during the peace process.
It was the first time forum to held after 19 months of KNPP and government had signed ceasefire agreement in May 7, 2012.
